Yule celebration with a organized potluck feast and Arts 'n Crafts
showcase for the Shire of Hartwood. The shire is providing the main
meat dishes. Contact Cunnegonda (dbevan@topfloor.ca) to reserve
your potluck contribution.
Feature Activities:
Time to make new garb - or an accessory
Come and show off your new white and green court garb or a new
accessory for previously made White Court garb. Be prepared with a
short description so all may admire your garb or accessory as you
process into the feast.
Suggested ideas for accessories: headdress/headgear, belts,
pouches, jewellry etc.
Dessert subtlety contest (entries will be eaten)
Gift tree...Evenyone is encouraged to bring a small gift/ornament
to hang on the tree at the start of the event - and to take a
different one away as you leave.
Arts and Sciences display - please bring your accomplishments of
the previous year, with a description. May also include accessories
made for White Court garb as described above.
Live Auction, just in time for the gifting season - Proceeds to
support shire activities. (Donations welcome...clean out your
coffers and contact the event-steward with a description of your
donation.)
Mini-masque: A scaled down version of the entertainment which would
have graced such a seasonal feast.
Step One: Make a masquing costume - this can be a historical
fantasy, mythological or allegorical character - and is your chance
to perchance use fabric/materials you love but don't match your
usual persona. The costume can be in place of White Court garb or
something you slip over or change into - your choice. Have fun!
Step Two: Arrive early - for this purpose the hall is opening at
4:30 p.m. to join your on-the-fly, instant masque troupe. With the
help of some period resources & props, create a five minute or
less skit for presentation during the feast. Music, dance, bad puns
etc. encouraged. Memorization not required...
Yes, there will be prizes!
There will also be children's activities, dancing & carolling
& eating (by way of an assigned potluck & main meat dishes
from the shire.)

Note that the above Weather and Map information is generated from the site address and can be easily confused. The weather will say if its for the branch or for the site. It will be for the site if the site can be found, but this again is not always the case, and if the site is some distance from the branch then the weather may be different.
