Their Excellencies Grimolfr
and Dezzrianne of Myrgan Wood wish to invite all to come and
participate in the selection of their Rapier and A&S
Champions. As well, there will be a Cut and Thrust
demonstration, archery tourney (to be determined) and
armoured competition in preparation for the upcoming war
season.
Merchants are welcome and
should contact HE Dezzrianne for space.
Schedule:
The schedule for the days events are as follows and are
subject to change (give or take):
9:00 a.m. to Noon - Archery (Location to be announced)
10:00 a.m to Noon - A&S entries for championship to be
placed on display
Noon to 12:45 p.m. - Heavy armour inspection
12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Heavy tournament
1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. - Rapier armour inspection
2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Rapier tournery (including
championship tourney)
3:45 p.m. (4:00 p.m.) to 5:00 p.m. - Cut & Thrust
demonstration
5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Children's Equistrian
6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Hall setup
7:00 p.m. - Feast
Court to follow
Individuals who would like to bring A&S items for display
may set up their items any time during the day.
The above schedule is subject to change as things may advance
if the previous tourney concludes
early.
Rapier Tournament
Don Thore extends an
invitation to all rapier fighters in Avacal and Myrgan Wood
to come out to Spring Champions to test the mettle of the
fighters competing for Baronial Champion.
Tournament Format - Modified
London Masters:
Two stages: First stage
will be single elimination rounds with each of 5 weapon
styles (single sword, sword/dagger, sword/buckler,
sword/cloak, swoard/baton). Second stage will be an
elimination round for the winners of the first stage.
Each stage 1 round style win buys the fighter a life in the
second round. So if Fighter A wins 2 styles, and
Fighers B, C and D each win one, Fighter A will have two
lives in the final round, while fighters B,C and D each have
one. The second round will be fought with the fighter's
choice of weapon styles from the first round.
Each fighter is guaranteed at
least 5 fights. All pairings in each round will be
pulled from a hat.
Those entering into the
Championship must have a valid SCA membership and maintain
the same during their tenure, be prepared to return in about
a year or so to select their successor and subscribe to the
Myrgan Wood mailing list.
A&S
Championship:
The A&S championship will
be a single entry and shall be available for display no later
than 11:00 a.m.
All individuals wishing to
compete for Champion:
Must carry a valid membership and maintain the same during
the duration of their tenure. Be willing to return
in one year (or so) to hold a tourney to select their
successor. Must subscribe to the Myrgan Wood
mailing list during their tenure. To provide a
letter of intent to the L. Cynethryth (c/o mark_wells318@hotmail.com)
and cc'd to HE Grimolfr and myself by April 17, 2010.
Please note that late entries may be accepted on the approval
of Their Excellencies.

like to run a 'day of event challenge' or class please
contact HE Dezzrianne. If you are unsure of what you
would like to do and are looking for ideas our thereme this
year is "preparation for the war season".

NMS – the $3 NMS fee
will be applied to all adult site fees for those individuals
that cannot show proof of membership.

From the
West (Hwy 14 and 7), this highway becomes 22nd Street; follow
it until you get to 4th Avenue. Turn right. Three blocks
later the street will end and you will turn left onto the
Broadway Bridge. One block on the other side is 11th Street.
Turn left; the hall is 1/2 block down. Please note that
you will be unable to turn left on 11th Street but will be
able to turn left on 12th Street and come
around. From the
North (Hwys 11, 12 & 16), these highways become Idylwyld
Drive. Drive until you get to 22nd Street; turn left. Follow
the remaining directions above.
