Provost of Pages
Job Description
Regional Administrator for the College of Pages. Reports to the Kingdom Preceptor of the College of Pages.
Receives
Dean's reports quarterly. Each report should include:
New Initiates, Challenges and Ranks achieved (Transcript Update Checklist)
Ideas, questions and concerns of the Deans, Parents, Officers & Pages of all Ranks
Summarizes Dean's Reports and forwards full copies of reports and checklists to Preceptor.
Include written permission to publish information contained in reports in the Quarterly "Pages Gazette".
Assist
in Challenge Rank selection, self-assessment, networking and
Challenge preparations.
Be
available to sign off on any Challenges in a Ranking Pages
Certification Book, once satisfied that the proficiency requirements
for the Challenge have been met. Plan and execute ceremonies, bestow
certificates or other symbols of recognition as appropriate for the
achievements of participants.
Provide
guidance and encouragement for all youths, regardless of enrollment
status, within their Region. Oversee the activities, monitor and
chronicle the successes of those young gentles who do not have a
local Dean of Pages to oversee their activities for Rank challenges.
Identify
and plan appropriate activities, games, classes and workshops for
youths. Provide Copy of Activities and Sessions to all appropriate
newsletters or publications; or otherwise insure the information is
made available to the populace (phone calls, post cards). Answer
inquiries and use good judgment and tact in answering questions from
the Dean of Pages, parents, young gentles and the populace of the
SCA. Utilize problem solving skills ability to set priorities and
interpret and apply rules. Advise Dean of Pages on interviewing
procedures and policies regarding application and appointment
process. Encourage the use of Grievance Procedures when required.
Utilize
library(ies) which includes various Known World and Modern resources.
Acquire or develop resources appropriate for all Ranks such as
directories/databases of skilled artisans.
Establish
and maintain records and files of awards and achievements of the
participants of the College of Pages.
Build
relationships with potential instructors, encourage participation and
facilitation for recruitment. Share information with Kingdom
Preceptor for distribution throughout the Kingdom.
Plan
and carry out fund-raisers, as needed, following SCA procedures and
obeying modern laws. Seek advice and instruction when required.
Write
and or forward Letters of Recommendation or Commendation for
recognizing exemplary service or skills to the Preceptor.
Write
to Preceptor for transcripts of Pages rankings.
Confer
with Kingdom Preceptor to clarify issues of policies and procedures.
Report
due dates: March 1, June 1, September 1, December 1 of each year or
per the Laws of the Kingdom of An Tir..
Desirable Experience and Skills for the Performance of Duties
Experience working with young persons ages 12 - 17. Possess an understanding of hierarchy and reporting structures of the SCA. Have an ability to teach and have demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with a variety of audiences. Capable of creating and maintaining records of achievements, recognition and activities of the members of the COP. Able to encourage knowledgeable gentles of the SCA to teach or guide the COP participants to attain the skills and knowledge they seek.
